What happened
Newdex decentralized exchange was exploited on September 14, 2018 when hackers created one billion fake EOS tokens named 'EOS'. The platform's lack of smart contract validation and reliance on personal accounts for settlement allowed attackers to purchase real EOS (4,028) and other tokens (BLACK, IQ, ADD) using the counterfeit tokens. The exchange compensated all users.
