What happened
On July 26, 2024, the Casper blockchain was exploited via a privilege escalation vulnerability that allowed contract installers to bypass access rights checks on urefs. Attackers gained unauthorized access to 13 accounts and transferred approximately $6.7M in tokens before validators halted consensus to prevent further exploitation.
