What happened
CoinTiger's cold wallet was breached on July 1, 2019, but the theft was only announced on August 17, 47 days later. Attackers stole 401,981,748 PTT tokens (~$9.2M), which they distributed across markets (120M PTT entered trading, causing the price to crash nearly 100%) while 280M were frozen by the Proton Chain project. CoinTiger's lack of multi-signature security on cold storage enabled the compromise.
