What happened
Vertcoin suffered a second 51% attack on December 1, 2019, with 603 VTC blocks replaced by 553 attacker-controlled blocks in a deep blockchain reorganization. Five double-spent outputs worth approximately 125 VTC (~$29) were redirected to the attacker. Attacker rented hash power for 0.5-1 BTC despite the attack being financially unprofitable; Bittrex suspended withdrawals during the attack.
