What happened
Mintpal's exchange was compromised and attackers gained control of internal features that allowed them to withdraw 8 million VeriCoin (30% of circulating supply at the time). VeriCoin developers executed a soft fork to roll back the blockchain, returning the stolen tokens to the exchange.
