What happened
On July 19, 2017, a vulnerability in Parity's multisig wallet library allowed an attacker to reset ownership of wallets and drain them. The attacker stole 153,037 ETH (~$30M) from Swarm City, Edgeless, and Aeternity. A white-hat group subsequently used the same exploit to rescue ~$166M in additional vulnerable wallets.
